ARRAK SEATED WOMAN 1967 SILK SCARF
ARRAK SEATED WOMAN 1967 silk scarf is based on artwork of a famous Estonian painter Jüri Arrak – Seated woman (1967). Original painting: oil on canvas, 48,8×69,5cm, The Art Museum of Estonia’s collection.
“In the 1960s, we were all similar students, but subconsciously, intense emotions were more important to me. I remember myself saying: ‘I don’t collect things, I collect emotions – no one can take those away from me.’ True enough, I expressed my dissatisfaction through colour symbols and other artistic means. I suppose I was a kind of colour dissident back then.”- Jüri Arrak, in a conversation with Eero Epner, April/May 2006, in the book “Jüri Arrak. Paintings”.
Scarf print based on Arrak’s artwork “Seated woman” (1967).
